Within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum (Vladivostok), the third meeting of the Northern Sea Route Public Council (hereinafter referred to as the Council of the NSR) began under the chairmanship of Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom State Corporation, and Sergey Frank, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sovcomflot PJSC.

The main topic of the meeting is to discuss the prospects for creating a year-round international maritime transport corridor of global significance, which, in addition to traditional transport routes, will reliably connect the countries of the Asia-Pacific region with Europe through the Arctic Ocean.

The agenda of the meeting includes speakers: Deputy Chairman of the Management Board – Director for Maritime Operations, Shipping and Logistics of PJSC NOVATEK, Chairman of the Arctic Economic Council Evgeny Ambrosov; President, Chairman of the Management Board of FESCO Group Arkady Korostelyov; Executive Officer of Mitsui O. S. K. Lines (Japan) Kazuya Hamazaki; Managing Director of Aker Arctic Technology (Finland) Rekko-Antti Suoyanen; General Executive Director, Head of the Board of Directors of DP World (UAE), Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem; Chairman of the Management Board of Tschudi Shipping Company AC (Norway) Felix Tschudi; Vice President of COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers (China) Jiqiang Weng; Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic Alexey Chekunkov.

The Council was formed in 2019 by the initiative of the State Corporation Rosatom as an infrastructure operator of the Northern Sea Route. The main purpose of the Council's activities is to prepare recommendations and form expert opinions for making decisions in the field of development of the Northern Sea Route, effective interaction of Rosatom State Corporation with relevant federal executive bodies, senators and deputies of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, governors of the regions included in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, representatives of large businesses implementing their projects in the Arctic, public organizations, mass media, scientists, as well as representatives of foreign states interested in developing the potential of the NSR.
