Gazprom Neft plans to increase drilling activity by 50% in 2022

Gazprom Neft plans to increase its drilling activity by 50% in 2022 compared to 2021. This was announced in an interview with Gazprom magazine by the head of the Gazprom Neft Production Directorate Sergei Doktor.

“We have already selected and calculated all the required wells. It’s probably easier for us than for some other companies, since over the past five years we have achieved a drilling success rate that is unique for the industry, having raised it to 98%,” he said.

According to Doktor, Gazprom Neft has almost completely restored production volumes (including OPEC + quotas). "Now we have practically no stopped well stock. Quotas for the next year imply an increase in production potential relative to pre-crisis indicators," he said.

Commenting on the development of the company in the Arctic, the top manager noted: “Now we understand well how to develop the onshore part of the Arctic. Moreover, we observe not only the principle of efficiency, but also safety. In the shelf area, it is worth dividing the issue into two parts: development of shallow water and deep water. In shallow water we have all the necessary competencies and technologies. Now we are ready to provide not only production, but also efficient logistics of raw materials to consumers. The attractiveness of the deep-water shelf depends on the amount of discoveries. I emphasize once again that the Arctic is an important direction. New niches and opportunities will open up for Russia with the development of the industry. If we do not work on the shelf, we will limit our growth potential."
