The Presidential Envoy in the Far Eastern Federal District, Yuri Trutnev, said that regular container transportation will provide the delivery of fish products from the Far East to the European part of the country.

Year-round navigation along the Northern Sea Route (NSR) will start in 2023-2024, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev said in his report "On the implementation of the AZRF development strategy" during the government hour in the Federation Council on Wednesday.

"A new stage in the development of the Northern Sea Route will be the launch of regular container transportation in 2022, which will provide the delivery of fish products from the Far East to the European part of the country. And in 2023-2024 year-round navigation in high latitudes will begin," he said.

The Northern Sea Route is a shipping route, the main sea communication in the Russian Arctic. It runs along the northern shores of Russia along the seas of the Arctic Ocean (Barents, Kara, Laptev, East Siberian, Chukchi and Bering). The NSR connects the European and Far Eastern ports of Russia, as well as the mouths of navigable Siberian rivers into a single transport system. The length of the route is 5,600 km from the Kara Strait to Providence Bay.
