The Indiga port project will be presented to residents of the NAO

The project for the construction of an ice-free deep-water port of Indiga will be presented to residents of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (NAO). According to the message of the administration of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, this was announced on social networks by the governor of the district Yuri Bezdudny.

“Indiga deep-water port is not a new topic. There was a lot of talk about this project, but still it has not been implemented. The President of Russia breathed life into the project. Last week, Vladimir Putin instructed the government to study the issue of building a railway to the Barents Sea in the area of the bay of the Indiga River. For our project, the new railway route is a new lease of life. Access to the Northern Sea Route will open a short route for a large amount of cargo. The RUSTITAN company has already joined the project, - said Yuri Bezdudny

The governor of the NAO also said that on January 17 he carried on negotiations with the head of the AEON corporation, Roman Trotsenko, where they discussed the details of the project - the construction of a deep-water port and the route of the Sosnogorsk-Indiga railway.

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to present the project of the port to the residents of the NAO.

Now Roman Trotsenko's AEON Corporation is committed to build a port in this area. The site for the port construction has already been selected - this is the area of Cape Rumyanichny, as of the beginning of 2021, design work was underway. According to the corporation's plans, construction is expected to begin in 2023, and the port will be put into operation in 2028. It is anticipated that the port will be able to handle up to 80 million tons of cargo per year, primarily oil, LNG, coking coal, timber, fertilizers, chemicals and paper. Japan should become the main consumer. The volume of investments is estimated at more than 300 billion rubles.
