The launch of the metallurgical plant for the Zvezda shipyard is scheduled for 2025

The project will be performed in two stages: within the first, steel rolling production will be launched, within the second - pipe rolling in the amount of up to 220 thousand tons

The metallurgical plant to meet the needs of the Zvezda shipyard is planned to be launched in Primorye in 2025. Some of its products can be exported, the Rosneft spokesman told reporters.

"The commissioning of the plant is scheduled for 2025. Its production capacity will amount to 1.5 million tons of metal products per year. The project will be performed in two stages: within the first phase, steel rolling production will be launched, within the framework of the second, pipe rolling in the amount of up to 220 thousand tons", he said.

The main consumer of flat products will be the only large-tonnage shipyard in Russia "Zvezda", which is also a resident of the priority development area (PDA) "Bolshoy Kamen". The company is also considering the possibility of export deliveries of its metallurgical products.

"Preliminary agreements have been reached. We are ready to take almost all the remains of the flat steel," said a company representative.

He specified that JSC "Modern Shipbuilding Technologies" will invest in the construction of the plant. The project cost is estimated at $ 2.2 million. The representative of Rosneft added that the issue of creating the facility for rolling metal sheets up to 200 mm is currently being considered. This will make it possible to produce metal-water protection tanks for a nuclear reactor as part of the construction project at the Zvezda shipyard of a Leader-class icebreaker.
